Leora Goldenberg,
Licensed Therapist in NY and FL
Looking for the right therapist?
Hi!
I’m Leora Goldenberg, LCSW, an online anxiety therapist licensed in New York and Florida. With 10 years of experience, I specialize in helping adults work through anxiety, stress, people pleasing, perfectionism, low self esteem and life transitions.
Finding the right therapist can feel daunting, especially when you’re already overwhelmed, but you don’t have to do this alone. I strive to be the therapist I value most: caring, compassionate, and committed to providing a safe space where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or shame.
I help adults who look “fine” on the outside but battle anxiety, people-pleasing and a harsh inner critic on the inside, gain confidence and learn to set boundaries and show up more authentically.
I’m not a ‘smile and nod’ therapist. I actively engage in our sessions, showing up authentically with warmth, a touch of humor, and thoughtful questions to truly understand your experiences.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, self-doubt, or life transitions, I’m here to support you. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs and goals.

A Little About Me
In 9th grade, I had to read Dibs in Search of Self for literature class. It’s the story of a young boy everyone had essentially written off—until one extraordinary play therapist was able to really see and understand him, and it completely changed his life. That book stayed with me and showed me the power one person can have in helping another feel truly seen.
Throughout my internship and over ten years in the field, I’ve worked in early childcare centers, hospitals, clinics, group practices, and now in private practice. Across all of these settings, the theme has been the same: people want to be seen, heard, and understood. When they’re given that kind of space, change can be deep and impactful.
Authenticity is something I value deeply in my everyday life, not just in the therapy room. And when the timing is right, a little humor too.
Therapeutic Approaches
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): An evidence-based approach that helps you identify and shift the negative thought patterns driving your anxiety, self-doubt and people pleasing — so you can start responding to life differently.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): A mindfulness-based approach that helps you stop fighting your thoughts and feelings and start living in line with what actually matters to you.
Brainspotting: A gentle but powerful brain-body therapy that goes deeper than talk therapy — helping you process stored anxiety, trauma and emotional pain at the root level rather than just managing the symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions
******
Why did you become a therapist?
Because I believe in the quiet power of being witnessed, and in the real change that can happen when someone finally feels supported. I’m drawn to the moments when a person begins to trust themselves again, take up space, and move toward the life they want. These moments, often subtle but deeply impactful, are at the heart of why I chose this work.
What makes your approach to anxiety therapy different?
A lot of anxiety therapists will teach you coping strategies. That’s useful -but I wanted to offer more. By combining CBT with Brainspotting, I can work with both your thoughts and what your body is holding onto, getting to the root rather than just the surface. I also show up to sessions the same way I ask you to -authentically, actively engaged, and occasionally with humor. Because healing doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time.
